Natural dye, organza, cotton paper, plexiglass, and monofilament

Spring Break Art Fair
625 Madison Avenue, NYC

2017

Contrasted against the office architecture of New York City, this installation was the beginning of a five year series called Solid Liquid, Ice, Melt, Repeat.

I created natural dye and then froze it into ice, which was then melted onto organza and paper. This process was an exploration in capturing the passage of time in a print and studying how different materiality facilitates different speeds and captures different memories.

Visualizing these marks and how they relate to each other was the beginning of a long pursuit in working to understand our ever changing relationship to time.
