Landscape Artifcats is a series of objects I created while facilitating a week-long workshop in utilizing collaborative creative practice to mourn those we have lost, and prepare for the loss of lovedones in hospice, by cultivating transformation within ourselves. We explored the notion that time is not linear and took practical action in the present to make peace with the past and the future.
As the week unfolded, I felt a strong energetic pull towards the river. As I continuously walked the river, a path became more and more emergent. This silent ritual became a moment to listen and become in tune with the sound of the steady river. A time to get to know the trees on this path and learn from their wisdom. Fallen trees and river rocks provided moments for balance and imbalance to engage with the ebb and flow of human existence. I
I began to collect small tokens of the landscape. Back in the studio, these elements seemed to guide me to adorn them in ways that celebrate their energetic function. Each work is meant to be physically interated with as it holds an energetic function for bodies in space.
